Dog food is prepared for the dogs and it consists of plants or animals ingredients. Dog food can be prepared at home and it is also manufactured at the commercial level. Most of the dog owners always care about the food of their dogs. They always keep on looking for the best diet for their dogs. The times have passed when dogs were given the leftovers and scraps to the dogs. Today, it is available with all the essential additives and high quality material. The dog food available in the market is found in two common forms including liquid food for dog and the dry dog food. Dry dog food is also called as kibble. The difference between the two kinds of dog food is that dry dog food has 6 to 10% moisture while wet canned food has up to 78% moisture. The people who want a combination of dry and wet food is known as semi moist food which has almost 25 to 35% of moisture level. Different forms of dog food are offered to increase the variety of the food for the dogs.
Dog owners usually go for the canned food for dog because these foods are nutritious and they are available at reasonable prices. Dog owners also feel it more convenient to serve canned food to the dogs. Dry dog food can be served to the dogs for several days and it does not spoil for certain days. In addition to the forms of dog food, some companies are also offering alternative foods for dogs.
Dog food is available in freeze dried form. This dog food comes in the raw or in cooked food but this food is not processed. The benefit of using this dog food is that it is more nutritious as compare to the other form of food because its nutritional integrity is not destructed. Dehydrated food for dog is another type of dog food and it is available in both cooked form and raw form. This dog food is similar to the dry dog food but it may need warm water addition before serving to the dog. The third type of alternative dog food is the fresh or refrigerated food which is manufactured by pasteurization of the fresh ingredients. This food for dog is semi cooked and it is kept at cool temperature for using it for 2 to 4 months.
Many people do not like to serve their dogs commercially prepared food therefore; they go for homemade dog food. This food is usually available in a bucket or Tupperware like package. Homemade food does not have many preservatives therefore, it should be consumed within few days.
